Maverick Kitchen - Paleo On The Go MealsPaleo On The Go Delivered Meals

Making the transition from a pasta-based Standard American Diet (the SAD) to Autoimmune Paleo Protocol was no easy feat. It can be a really bumpy road and convenience food is suddenly out the window. But no more!

Paleo On The Go delivers delicious organic, grass-fed and pastured meals right to your door, deep frozen for total freshness. Simply boil the freezer bags in water to thaw, and you instantly have a nutrient-dense meal on the run. Their AIP meals were life-savers when I travelled extensively for speaking engagements and had to stay 100% AIP. Their Paleo Mom menu is wonderful, and they also offer delicious straight Paleo, Whole30, 21DSD, Thanksgiving and Seafood-only meal plans. A wonderful company with a vital mission!

Maverick Kitchen - ButcherBox - ResourcesButcherBox 100% Grass-Fed Meat Delivery

One side effect of going real food / Paleo is systemic sticker shock. It’s both instructive and intimidating to see how much more expensive this lifestyle can be. That’s because our conventional food supply has been so drained of quality and nutrition, that we have to reprogram to understand what quality food costs to produce.

ButcherBox hopes to make sustainably raised and delicious meats accessible for all. The service delivers an assortment of 100% grass-fed and grass-finished meats to your door for a very reasonable price. Today you can get an assortments of beef, chicken and pork with bone-in and boneless cuts. Included are sourcing information and beautiful recipe cards. And…they’re busy putting offal and bones on their product roadmap, woohoo!

The founder, Mike Salguero, said something that really resonated with me: “I dreamed of a world where we could make All Natural 100% Grass Fed beef available to anyone who was looking for it.” Now that dream is becoming reality, one box at a time. They are lovely, passionate people with whom I’ve spoken personally, and who live their brand every day.

I’ve tested a LOT of planning services; nothing comes close to the recipe choices, features, customization and support Real Plans offers.

It’s a real food-centered meal planning system that allows you to select your base diet (Traditional, Paleo, Vegetarian, etc.) and tailor it to your particular food restrictions. It offers advance meal prep notes in a weekly timeline, and a dynamic shopping list with your preferred stores.

But perhaps the best part of Real Plans is the community. They offer a members-only Facebook group where we regularly share photos of our culinary works of art, and tips for knocking down our cooking obstacles.

Thrive Market is the first socially conscious online marketplace offering the world’s best-selling natural and organic products at wholesale prices. Think Costco meets Whole Foods online.

For less than $5 a month ($59.95 annually), you can shop 2,500 of the highest quality food, supplements, home, personal care, and beauty products, all delivered straight to your doorstep at 25-50% below retail.

I paid for my membership fee with the savings on my first order alone. I can’t recommend this company enough for the value it provides to its members and the community at large.

Kitchen Appliances

Instant Pot – This gadget is the new black in the real food & Paleo community. And, it’s not hard to see why. It is a pressure cooker, crockpot, saute pan, steamer and pretty much does your dishes afterward. It cooks beef stews, chicken soup and vegetables in a fraction of the time with amazingly tender results. There’s no risk of blowing up your kitchen if your toddler runs by while it’s on like classic pressure cookers, and your house won’t smell like an onion factory like a slow cooker either! If I were stranded on a desert island with one outlet, this is the device I’d be stowing in my fanny pack.

BlendTec Wildside Jar Blender – The Bentley of blenders, this small vortex really can blend anything.  When I think of return on investment, this is the first kitchen item that pops into my mind.

Infrared Toaster Oven – A confession: we haven’t used our microwave in almost a year. Instead, we use this to “nuke” our leftovers, roast broccoli, make vegetable egg bakes, you name it.  Top 2 tools we’ve invested in Caschina Mavericka.

Excalibur Dehydrator – This is a an investment, but if you’re committed to making homemade yogurt and vegetable or sweet potato chips, this is your bestie. We use ours almost daily to preserve snacks like sweet potato and beet chips for my 3pm blood sugar nosedive.

Mandoline – An essential tool for slicing beautiful, thin vegetable and fruit chips for the oven or dehydrator.  folks on super-restrictive healing diets

Vegetable Spiralizer – for making zucchini noodles, or “zoodles” if you will.  Essential for a reluctant gluten-free noodle junkie such as myself who still needs her noodly fix.

Meat, Poultry and Fish

Organic Lifestyle Foods (serves the Tri-State Area) – Our go-to for top-quality meats, poultry and pantry items at wholesale prices, delivered to our huge basement freezer every few months.

Slanker Grass-Fed Meats – For when we’ve run low on meat or need specialty items like chicken backs or feet for bone broth, “Primal” ground beef with organ meat for Autoimmune Paleo breakfast patties, or beef for rendering into tallow.

Door to Door Organics

Grass-Fed Butter, Grass-Fed Ghee and Cultured Ghee

Coconut Products (deserves its own category)

Red Palm Oil (sustainably harvested)

Snacks

Jackson’s Honest Potato Chips & Sweet Potato Chips: When you go Paleo, you reprogram your cravings completely away from sinister sweets like ice cream cake. Then, you end up craving chips. These are by far my favorite “indulgence”, organic chips fried in coconut oil and sea salt. Delicious.

Inka Plantain Chips

Seaweed Snax

EPIC grass-fed jerky bars (bison & cranberry is our favorite!)

Exo Cricket Bars: Yes, that’s right. But they also happen to be the most delicious protein bars I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried them all. We love the Banana Nut Bread and Blueberry Vanilla!

Sweeteners

Raw Honey

Local Honey Finder: To reap the benefits of raw honey on allergies, the more local, the better. This is an interactive search tool to find local sources of raw honey.

Manuka Honey

Grade B Maple Syrup

Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses

Vitamins and Supplements

Essential Oils and Accessories

Piping Rock –  offers a wide range of well-made essential oils as well, I used them to make a killer DIY bug spray that actually works!

Clean Water

Drinking Water: We use an under-the-sink reverse osmosis filter from Blue Marble Water which passes our drinking water through a 9-stage filtration process of heavy metal removal, santitzation, pH balancing and mineral enhancement.  This was essential when we had to begin supplementing The Judgey Bear and needed to get rid of “Nursery Water” with added fluoride.

Whole House Filtration:  If you decide to become a customer of Organic Lifestyle Foods, you can procure an excellent whole house filter from them which will result in a steep discount of your foods.  Win-win! If this is not an option, Radiant Life Catalog also offers a range of whole house filters and the opportunity to work with their specialists to determine the right option for your home.
